Look at the Big Dipper in the Sky and Find Your Star

The universe is immeasurable, and the sky is filled with countless stars. Why does the Big Dipper, with its seven stars, play such a special role in the traditional cultivation culture of YiXue? Why is each person connected to a star associated with their life? And which is your personal life star—your protective star?

The stars may seem far away, yet since ancient times they have been closely connected with human life and with our search for the deeper relationships and meaning of existence. In earlier times, people observed the sky and stars much more closely than we do today. By observing the movements of the Big Dipper, they recognized the passage of time, the changing seasons, and the transformations between Heaven and Earth. At the same time, they explored the relationship between human beings, nature, and the cosmos.

The Seven Stars

In the cultivation tradition surrounding the Big Dipper, the seven stars have a special significance for human life. To become familiar with, understand, and recognize the seven stars also means to come to know ourselves more deeply.

Cai Lian Qi guides us from observing the starry sky inward, into cultivation. But the question is: Why do we cultivate specifically with these seven stars?

Traditionally, a relationship is understood to exist between the constellation of the Big Dipper, its seven stars, and human life. Every person is connected to an individual life star that also serves as a protective star. The question remains: Which life star corresponds to you, and why this particular star? And how can we use cultivation to develop a deeper informational and energetic connection with our life star? How can we perceive and receive the energy, power, and light of the stars?

During the Cai Lian Qi cultivation seminar, we can gradually experience and recognize our relationship with our star:

  • Zou Lian Ta Dou: Walking on the Lotus and following the Big Dipper.

  • Bei Dou Hu Shen: The Big Dipper protects our body.

  • Qi Xing He Lian: The seven stars unite with the Lotus.

  • Shen Wo Zi Ting: The divine self shines from within.

Cai Lian Qi is a seminar for taking cultivation to a deeper and more advanced level. It goes far beyond the physical level and the intellect. The seminar guides us toward opening and expanding our consciousness and perception: from the individual self to the stars, from the seven stars to the seven emotions, and from individual life into the vastness of Heaven and the cosmos.

Seven Stars in the Sky, Seven Emotions Within Us

The seven emotions accompany us every day: excessive joy, anger, worry and overthinking, sadness, fear, and fright or shock. Their movement—their coming and going—influences our life energy and our sense of well-being.

How can we regulate our seven emotions and bring them into balance?

During the three days of the seminar, we will practice and cultivate:

    • The Calm Heart and the balance of the seven emotions

    • The One Thought (Yi Nian)

    • Walking the Seven Stars of the Big Dipper (Zou Lian Ta Dou)

We will learn to connect with the seven stars and perceive their information and energy. We turn our attention inward, practice, and learn to regulate our inner state so that body, heart, consciousness, and energy increasingly come into balance and harmony.

As we become calm and clear, we open ourselves to a more subtle perception of life. Cultivating the heart and balancing our emotions form the foundation for moving toward a higher level of energy and cultivation.

What Would You Like to Experience and Gain Through Your Cultivation?

Would you like to develop greater inner peace, clarity, and stability?

Would you like to understand yourself and your inner processes more deeply?

Would you like to move beyond your previous limitations and have new experiences?

Would you like to explore whether, beyond what is visible and tangible, another dimension of life may reveal itself to you?

For many years, Sifu Wei Ling Yi explored the Big Dipper and its seven stars with us as part of the development of our cultivation. Today, Sifu continues to accompany and support us on our path, though in a different way. In the past, Sifu guided us to look up toward the starry sky. Today, we follow his starlight, increasingly finding the direction of our cultivation and continuing along our Lotus Path.

From October 9–11, 2026, the YiXue teachers Wei Na and Lian Yü will continue Sifu’s teachings. Let us enter Cai Lian Qi once again with curiosity and openness, walk together on the Lotus, and connect with the seven stars—a connection that ultimately leads us back to the truth and authenticity of our lives.

Out of respect for Heaven, Earth, and all living beings, you may decorate your altar/table with fruit, flowers, and two purple candles.

All DiZi (initiated students) are asked to wear their DiZi scarf and white/light-colored clothing during the lectures.

For protection during meditation, wearing a cloak is recommended, preferably in a color from the rainbow spectrum. The cloak should cover the shoulders, kidney area, and knees to protect against wind or cold. A length of approximately 3 meters has proven practical.

General Background to the Cai Lian Qi Seminar The influence of the cosmos and celestial bodies — the planets and stars, the sun and the moon — has a powerful effect on life and nature, on people, animals, and plants. In the Cai Lian Qi seminar, we explore the powerful energy of the seven stars of the Big Dipper in order to approach this hidden knowledge more deeply.

The seven stars carry regulating and harmonizing forces. They can call forth wind and rain. They regulate growth and the natural cycle of the seasons, allowing nature and the Earth to preserve their natural beauty and harmony. When we connect with the Big Dipper and, symbolically speaking, walk upon the lotus of the seven stars, we can open ourselves to their energetic potential and power. When we connect meditatively with our seven emotions through the seven stars — anger, excessive joy, overthinking, grief, fear, worry, and shock — we become regulated and our emotional heart comes into balance.

The great goal of life cultivation is to realize a harmonious YIN-YANG balance within ourselves and, through this, contribute to our own well-being and to the well-being of all.

THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF THE CONSTELLATION THE BIG DIPPER

The Big Dipper is directly connected with the primordial power of Yi Qi and forms the transformative center of all matter and beings in the infinite universe.

In Chinese, the Big Dipper is called “Bei Dou.” It is probably the best-known constellation in the northern sky and forms part of the larger constellation Ursa Major (the Great Bear). The seven brightest interconnected stars form the unmistakable, trapezoid-shaped Big Dipper with its distinctive handle, which also resembles a plough or a ladle. When the night sky is clear, the seven stars are easy to find, as they shine brightly, majestically, and beautifully. To the north of the Big Dipper — directly opposite it — lies the bright North Star (Polaris), which moves from north toward the west.
